HOUSTON – Produced by the Alexander Institute for Inclusion and Alexander Jewish Family Service, in collaboration with the Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities, the ReelAbilities Houston Film & Arts Festival is set for February 4-28, 2024. Leading the 2024 Festival are Chairs Caroline Rosen Funk and Karen Harberg, and Co-Chairs Jeffrey and Alli Feinstein. Previously, Rosen Funk and Harberg served as Co-Chairs for ReelAbilities Houston 2023.

“Last year, we were thrilled to welcome Houstonians back for our first in-person Festival since 219. This year, we look forward to continuing to introduce more and more people from across Houston to the exceptional programs that are slated for the 2024 ReelAbilities Houston Film & Arts Festival,” said Carl E. Josehart, CEO of Alexander Jewish Family Service.

With the mission of bringing disability awareness and systemic change to the culture of Houston’s families, institutions, places of work, and communities, the nearly month-long ReelAbilities Houston Film & Arts Festival reaches thousands with its message of inclusion through numerous art forms. The 2024 Festival will feature award-winning films, the ReelPeople: UPAbilities speakers event, the ReelMusic Concert, and ReelArt, showcasing the work of Celebration Company artists and educational programs in schools and workplaces around Houston. All art, film, and music events are free, and a full schedule of events will be announced throughout the fall and winter.

“As the mother of a daughter with disabilities, being involved with ReelAbilities Houston is very personal and special to me,” said Chair Karen Harberg. “It’s truly incredible to see how the Festival uses the arts as a vehicle to promote inclusion and amplify the voices of people with disabilities locally and nationally.”

Harberg, a native Houstonian, is a role model for businesswomen of all ages and is passionate about giving back to her community. She has an unstoppable energy, a captivating personality, and expansive knowledge of all things Houston. She is a top-rated luxury real estate agent with over 30 years of experience. Away from work, Harberg loves to spend time with her beloved husband, children, and grandchildren. In addition, she is a current member and two-time past president of the Women's City Club.

Caroline Rosen Funk is an advocate of Alexander JFS for its work, expertise, and compassion. Since becoming active with the organization in 2014, she has played a leadership role. From 2018-2021, Rosen Funk co-chaired the Alexander JFS Friends Campaign and, for the past two years, has worked as part of the JFS LiVE! Life Changing Auction Committee. She currently manages marketing and communications for Malone Bailey, LLP. However, her most coveted role is that of being a mother to her three young children.

“I am honored to be chairing this year’s festival alongside Karen,” said Rosen Funk. “, we are striving to make the subject of inclusion an identifiable and enriching element of Houston's distinct culture.”
